Kristen Stewarts Cool-Girl Outfit Included My Favorite Seasonless Staple

My closet is full of things, and while I own multiples of the same style (read: many slip dresses, trousers, blouses, you get the idea), I own a silly amount of skirts. Like, it’s so silly that I have so many, but I truly wear each one — all the time. The staple is a summer, fall, winter, and spring essential, which, in my opinion, justifies the sheer number I own. However, since adding one particular skirt option to my wardrobe, I’ve semi-neglected all my others.

Pleated skirts! Leather skirts! Tulle skirts! You name it, I have it, but last December I added the most simple, low-key option to my wardrobe, and it’s been a saving grace for those days when I just don’t know what to wear. The style I’m talking about? A simple black maxi skirt, which I just spotted on Kristen Stewart, too. In fact, her cool-girl way of wearing the staple offered me some fresh inspiration as we enter a new season.

The actress was photographed out in New York, and to say her outfit screams “I’m cool and I know it!” would be an understatement. Stewart is known for her edgy style, and her latest look is no expectation. She wore a cropped white tee emblazoned with the phrase Camp Stewart on it (cute), a trusty leather jacket that’s ideal for the confusing in-between weather, crisp white sneakers, and last but not least, that black maxi skirt that’s going to be your most-worn piece, too.

If you remember, the denim maxi skirt had a big renaissance last year. And while we’re still seeing huge things for this floor-length jean iteration, a black maxi is a welcomed addition into your spring 2024 skirt lineup. It’s simple, duh, and as I can tell you firsthand, this simplicity lends itself to incredibly easy wearing. As in, I’ve worn it with everything from sweaters and sneakers for a more low-key look to fitted black bodysuits and knee-high boots for a night at the ballet. Think of the black maxi skirt like a trusty black tee: There are endless ways to wear it.

I like how Stewart went with a slightly edgy styling with hers, going with the aforementioned tee, leather jacket, sneakers, and a baseball cap, but here’s the kicker: A few hours later, the actress was spotted in the same skirt, but this time, she swapped the tee for a sexy fringe halter top and the sneakers for black pumps. It’s day-to-night done right, if I do say so myself.
