The picture-book Victorian castle that looks like it’s out of a fairytale could be snagged by a wealthy Australian or international buyer.

The historic castle is set to sell for well above $25 million.

The residence, which comes on the market under Belle Property Mosman, sits in a prestige property market in Sydney’s north shore, hidden between lush greenery and Sydney’s iconic harbourside.

Sitting on a sprawling 8000 square metres of land, the Castle Cove mansion, which could go for as much as $4000 per square metre, was built from sandstone quarried on the site in the early 1900s.

Called the Innisfallen Castle, which means ‘Isle of the Field’ in Irish, the Cherry Place mansion was named after a ruined Abbey at Killarney in Ireland.

The heritage-listed property has had only two owners in its 100 years, first owned by Henry Willis, a former federal politician who passed the legacy to his son.

The castle’s interiors have been minimally modified from its Victorian style since it was built in 1902.

The residence boasts a grand staircase, 4m-high ceilings, an underground wine cellar and traditional Victorian-era stained glass.

It also has some more modern additions that would appeal to Sydneysiders – a gym and space for a sauna.
